A Look at Web Activity Around the World During the Day

Researchers at the University of Southern California’s Viterbi School of Engineering pinged 3.7 million address blocks (representing about 950 million addresses) every 11 minutes of the span of 2 months to look for daily patterns.

The image above shows Internet activity around the clock throughout the world. As you can see the United States and Western Europe seem to be connected around the clock while Eastern Europe and parts of Asia, connectivity seems to fluctuate and decrease at night.
