Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta

Ferrari officially announced the convertible version of the Ferrari 458 Speciale today.

It should be no surprise, especially given the success of the Ferrari 16M convertible model of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, but Ferrari officially announced the Ferrari 458 Speciale A via a press release today. The A  designation in the name stands for Aperta, which means open in Italian.

The car has an aluminum retractable hard top, and thanks to its lightweight construction, the weight difference between the hard top version and the convertible version is only 110 pounds. The lightweight top can be put up or down in a mere 14 seconds.

The power is delivered to the car via a naturally aspirated V8 engine production 596 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. This should propel the car from 0-62 miles per hour in just 3 seconds and it has a Fiorano lap time of 1’23″5 which is the same as the hard top version and is faster than the Ferrari Enzo’s lap time of 1’24″90.

There will be only 499 Speciale As created and the car will premiere at the Paris Motor Show from October 4-19.

No word on pricing yet, but the Speciale starting at around $288,000, expect it to be at least a few thousand higher than that.
