Amazon.com was founded in 1994 and went live in 1995, ever wonder what the first item ever purchased was?

Someone asked the question: “What was the first book ever ordered by a customer on Amazon?” on Quora.

Apparently the question gained so much traction, the person who purchased the first item on Amazon.com was alerted to it and answered the question himself.

The buyer of the first item on Amazon was John Wainwright.

There is a building in the South Lake Union Amazon campus called Wainwright, and apparently there is a nice write-up inside the building.
