Forget Retiring to a Retirement Home! Retire Onto a Luxury Cruise Ship!

Most people dream of retiring to various places, Florida, maybe an island somewhere, but retiring on a luxurious cruise ship?

Now that sounds amazing!

And this amazing plan, is exactly what Lee Wachtstetter did.

Lee and her husband Mason were married for 50 years until he passed away from cancer in 1997.

Lee and Mason took 89 cruises together to pretty much every country in the world before he passed.

The day before he died, Mason told Lee “Don’t stop cruising”.

Lee raised her family in a large 5 bedroom home in Fort Lauderdale that sat on 10 acres of land.

She decided to sell the house and the land and permanently move onto a cruise ship.

The Crystal Cruise Line’s Serenity.

Readers of Conde Nast Traveler and Travel and Leisure magazine routinely rate Crystal Cruise the top cruise line,  and the Serenity is the newer of the Japanese-owned cruise line’s two ships.

Lee Wachstetter, or Mama Lee, as she is known aboard the Crystal Serenity, started out by living on a Holland America liner for three years, then switched over to the Crystal Serenity boat.

The cost to live on the boat per year?

This year it will cost her an estimated $164,00.

This covers a single occupancy seventh deck stateroom, regular and specialty meals at the restaurants, beverages, gratuities, nightly ballroom dancing with dance hosts, and other scheduled daily activities.

Not a bad way to retire…
