Lexus Shows Off It’s Real Hoverboard

There were rumors circulating all year about various companies creating hoverboards.

Japanese luxury brand Lexus, who’s a subsidiary of automaker Toyota, showed off a functioning hoverboard prototype.

The catch however is that the skate park is magnetic, the device combines the effects of liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets to float above the ground.

Engineers installed some 200 meters of magnet track underneath the surface of the park located in Dresden, Germany dubbed the “hoverpark”.

The promotion is part of Lexus’ new ad campaign called “Amazing in Motion.”

The project apparently began 18 months ago with a partnership between scientists at IFW Dresden and evico GmbH.
