Matt Groening is an American cartoonist, writer, producer, animator and voice actor.

He created the comic book Life in Hell and the infamous cartoon series, The Simpsons.

Groening originally from Portland, moved to LA and worked day jobs while publishing the comic Life in Hell, the book caught the eye of Hollywood producer James L Brooks. Brooks invited Groening to a meeting and wanted to use Groening’s Life in Hell characters for a animated TV show for the Tracey Ullman Show, but Brooks wanted the rights to all the characters, afraid to give up the rights, Groening came up with the idea of The Simpsons in the lobby of Brook’s office.

The show recently finished its 26th season on television with 574 episodes made.
