This NFL Player Gives Up Millions of Dollars to Become a Farmer

Jason Brown was born in Henderson, North Carolina and was drafted into the NFL in 2005.

From 2005 through 2008 Brown played for the Baltimore Ravens, first rotating as a backup guard, then eventually moving on to a starter at the center position.

As Jason Brown entered free agency in 2009, he was considered one of the best interior offensive linemen available.

In 2009, Brown went on to sign for $37.5 million dollars with the St. Louis Rams, that made him the highest paid center in the NFL.

Five years later after earning more than $25 million dollars of that contract, Jason Brown decided to retire from football at the young age of 29.

Even though he had interest from numerous teams, including an offer from the Baltimore Ravens,  he decided to buy himself a 1,000 acre farm in Louisburg, North Carolina.

With no experience in farming, he learned to farm through YouTube videos and with the help from some other local farmers.

He plans on donating the food to help with the less fortunate in the area, he has apparently given away over 46,000 pounds of sweet potatoes and 10,000 pounds of cucumbers this fall.

Check out the CBS Evening News clip on him below:

  1. This is the kind of hero more wealthy people should emulate. Beats Spider-man by a mile.
