Software Developer Creates Beautiful Map By Detailing Every Tweet In the Last 3.5 Years

Eric Fischer, a software developer at Mapbox and a data artist tracked the locations of tweets for three and a half years and plotted it on a map, and the results are gorgeous.

Fischer tracked geotagged tweets from Twitter’s public application programming interface, when he first started, it was at about 3 million a day, but now there are around 10 million public geotagged tweets every day, about 120 per second.

He added the nearly three terabytes of compressed data, and this is how 6,341,973,478 tweets look on a map.
