In honor of National Chocolate Day (October 28), you can purchase a single chocolate truffle for $3,000.
Sized a little smaller than a basketball (at 25 inches in circumference), and made with grand cru Creole chocolate (single origin criollo beans), the truffle is filled with ganache and weighs about 4 pounds.
The truffle is gilded with 24-karat gold dust, and sits upon a blown-sugar pillow and comes with two crystal glasses and a bottle of Dom Perignon.
Alain Roby of the All Chocolate Kitchen in Geneva is the creator of this masterpiece.
He holds three Guinness World Records, World’s Tallest Cooked Sugar Building, World’s Tallest Chocolate Tower, World’s Longest Candy Cane”.
The truffle must be pre-ordered, and is available in the shop (with the chocolate, champagne and glasses available to be taken home if you cannot finish it), or via mail, although there is a limited amount available for shipping, with shipping costs starting at $300.
