Hublot has shown off the latest in motorsport inspired wrist wear in the form of their new MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire watch.
While a connection between motorsport and watches have been strong for a while (See our post on the Audemars Piguet Michael Schumacher Laptimer), this new watch is quite impressive.
The watch boasts a sapphire setting for the record-breaking movement, and is based of the MP-05 LaFerrari, which was created in 2013 as a tribute to the supercar designed by Ferrari.
The MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire’s three-dimensional construction of the 53.5 grams case middle, in sapphire, provides an exceptional setting for the movement which can be admired from every angle. It appears to be suspended in mid-air in the bespoke setting carved from sapphire.
The unique movement features 637 components and a suspended vertical tourbillon.
The ultra-futuristic timepiece needs to be wound by a mechanism using a miniature power drill, modeled after a tire changing tool used in Formula one.
Only 20 pieces of the Hublot MP-05 LaFerrari Sapphire will be offered, making it a rare collector’s item for both horological and automotive fanatics alike.
