Tyler Fernengel BMX Rides an Dilapidated Silverdome Stadium

The Detroit Lions moved out of the Silverdome back in 2002 (to Ford Field), activity at the Silverdome dropped drastically.

The Pontiac Silverdome was built in 1975 for $55 million, and hosted some 80,000 Detroit Lions fans every single Sunday.

But the team decided to pack up and move in 2002.

After the Lions left, there were some uses for the Silverdome, including Jehovah’s Witnesses using it annually, a drive in theater in the parking lot, and most recently an effort to reopen it, it was reopened in 2010 for a monster truck event, a friendly soccer match, and a boxing match in 2011.

In March of 2014, the owners of the facility announced that they were going to be auctioning the contents of the facility including seats and the fixtures.

Well Red Bull and budding 19-year old BMX rider and Michigan native, Tyler Fernengel used the dilapidated structure to create this amazing video.

The end-zone turf, scoreboards, and copper wiring has already been sold.
