You Can Buy a Fully Functional Life-Sized Tron: Legacy Light Cycle

The light cycle from Tron is an iconic movie motorcycle, and it would be awesome to own one. And now, you have the chance, there is one coming up for auction on May 2, 2015.

This light cycle was custom built for the Andrews Collection in 2011/12, it was started by an outside firm, and the Andrews’ own shop completed the build.

It is reported that the bike has only been ridden around the Andrews facilities to ensure that it’s still functional and the bike is said to be in “as-new condition”.

The family is selling the car at auction with RM Sotheby’s because the family is trying to downsize their collection.

“We want to get down to a smaller number of cars – perhaps 15 to 20 – that we very much enjoy driving and that we can use on events with the family,” Chris Andrews was quoted “There are a number of events we’d still like to try overseas and here in the United States, and in order to do that, we need to focus on a more manageable collection.”

The bike is powered by a 96 V direct-drive electric motor with lithium batteries. It also has features such as a computer-controlled throttle, rebound and compression damping with spring-preload front suspension and rigid rear suspension and front and rear hydraulic brakes.

The auction will take place in Texas with no reserve and with a price guide of $25,000-$40,000.
