The Secret 5th Floor of the Yanggakdo International Hotel in North Korea

The Yonggakdo International Hotel, a usual stop for most tours in North Korea is the largest operating hotel in the country.

But what is on its 5th floor?

If you look closely at the elevator, there is no 5th floor.

Calvin Sun and his friends from the Monsoon Diaries were visiting North Korea,
and was curious by the fact that when they Googled the Yonggakdo Hotel,
it autocompleted with 5th floor, so they decided to explore it.

You have to take the stairs from the 4th or the 6th floor
because the elevator does not stop there.

Most of the doors are locked.

This is translated to say “Our general is the best.”

“We miss our Father, the General”

Left side: “military first politics”
Bottom two words: “leadership.”
Right side: “powerful nation”

“The 21st century is the age of information (communications) industry”

“Let’s prepare thoroughly in order to defeat the invaders”(Red)
“The Japanese invaders slaughtered innocent, law-abiding citizens” (blue)
“1,000,000 slaughtered/killed; 6,000,000 forced arrests; 2,000,000 sex slaves”

Uhh…..

There are a bunch of theories for the room, and that the 5th floor is possibly split to two levels.

One of such theories is that the North Koreans use it to spy on guests in the hotel when needed.
