You Can Buy a $100 Solid Gold 24-Karat Gold Donut in New York
Manila Social Club in New York City, Brooklyn to be exact, has introduced a $100 gold donut.
The donut has been infused with Cristal champagne, lacquered in 24-karat gold.
The owner of the bakery has said they’ve already sold dozens of these donuts at the price of $100 for one or $1,000 for a dozen since launching.
To create the donut, a dense purple yam is compressed into a mousse filling into the pastry along with a champagne jelly. The sweet icing is also shot with Cristal, and then the donut is coated with copious amounts of gold leaf.
