Eileen Gu is an American-born Olympic skier who competed for China since 2019. Gu has declined to disclose her citizenship. In interviews, Gu commented: “Nobody can deny I’m American, nobody can deny I’m Chinese.” She has also said: “When I’m in the U.S., I’m American, but when I’m in China, I’m Chinese.

Eileen was born in San Francisco. Her father is American, and her mother is Chinese-American. Her father did not stay in the picture. Eileen was raised by her mother and her grandmother. She is fluent in both Mandarin and English.

Heading into the 2022 Olympic games, she signed over $30 million worth of endorsement deals for more than a dozen brands as a model and a product endorser. She has been featured in campaigns for Fendi, Gucci, IWC Schaffhausen, Tiffany & Co., and Louis Vuitton. These deals made her the highest paid athlete at the 2022 Winter Games.

She is represented by IMG Models and has appeared on multiple magazine covers, including the Chinese editions of Elle, GQ, Marie Claire, and Vogue.

In the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, she won a gold medal in the freestyle skiing big air event. She also won a gold medal in the freestyle halfpipe event. She won a silver medal in the slopestyle event.

Prior to the Winter Olympics, she won a Gold in Slopestyle, a Gold in Halfpipe, and a Bronze in Big Air during the 2021 World Championships in Aspen.

She also won a Gold in Slopestyle, a Gold in Superpipe, and a Bronze in Big Air in the 2021 Winter X Games in Aspen.

And at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne, Eileen won Gold in Halfpipe, Gold in Big Air, and Silver in Slopestyle.
